Let’s talk volunteering!

Updated: Mar 12

Did you know that for a few years now  we are witnessing more and more companies valuing soft skills and character traits over degrees? Look it up, it’s true.

What is the role of volunteering in all that though?

📄Respondents on a Deloitte’s survey stated that only 30% of the resumes they receive have listed volunteering experience while a staggering 82% of them would be more likely to choose a candidate with it.

But let’s see what makes these candidates so special:

Volunteering is a job before a job.

BUT- it is an environment where someone can fail without consequences and therefore a learning playground. 🛝

It can help a person develop soft skills and cultivate character traits such as:

  • communication

  • teamwork

  • resilience

  • proactivity

  • accountability

Most importantly though, it shows that a person can be committed to a cause.

So, if you're an employer, what's a better way to strengthen your culture than hiring these kinds of people?

BTW, it has been proven time and time again that volunteering has a positive effect on well-being, which in turn improves productivity and boosts morale. In other words, volunteering is a good indicator of a strong culture.

In WeRedd we believe in Bill Marklein’s words that ‘Culture is how employees’ hearts and stomachs feel about Monday morning on Sunday night’-and we can measure it!

If you need help finding the right culture for your organization, strengthening it by using tailor made solutions based on real data analysis and much more, well; #WeCanHelp. 😉
